Mickey Rourke: Too Much Plastic Surgery?
This from TheSun:
Which says, "Tough guy (Mickey) Rourke, 48, has the excuse his face took a pummelling during his boxing career but he is unlikely to be cast in a sequel to his 1989 movie Johnny Handsome."
Ouch.

Damn, this is what Rocky (from "Mask") would look like had he lived long enough.
Come now, Mickey only fought, what...about 20 bouts?
Still, he will always hold a special place in my heart for playing Henry in Bukowski's "Barfly."
Mickey was genius in Barfly and Pope of Grenwhich Village, and I wish him well on his newfound success with Sin City, but the plastic surgery is extreme.
So that wasn't make up in Sin City ;-)
Hi, Baby girl! At this point I think the consistency of his facve must be like a big mass of collagen. They probably molded it like putty. I believe his face is up for a "Best Special effects" Oscar next time around.
yes. pope too. sorry. a bit about barfly (as I am the worlds biggest Charles Bukowski fan):
mickey came in wanting to play Chinaski totally different. he wanted Chinaski to wear hawaiian shirts and sunglasses, and kind of be the jokester/prankster.
if you know anything by Bukowski (as I'm sure YOU do) you shudder at that thought.
so Bukowski and Schroeder (as in Barbet, as in the director) had to pull teeth to convince Mickey to play Chinaski like Chinaski ought to be played. Mickey didn't go down without a huge fight. so much so, that the film almost never went into production (for the second time. the first time, the studio withheld money, and Schroeder actually threatened to cut off his finger in front of the studio offices if they didn't funnel the money through).
auf auf!
I Love Bukowski, who BTW, used a "Mac," in the last years of his life and not the "typer." Odd how we've been talking alot lately about Crumb and Bukowsky, heroes of a and more hard-edged grittier age.
looks like mickey has been playing chinaski all of his life. he'll probably look worse than buk at 70 by the time he's 55 (he's 48 right now).
Oh c´mon guys, give Mickey some credit, i mean, granted, he ain´t the prettiest anymore but he is still one of the best actors of his generation. Does nobody remember his excellent performances in movies like "Angel Heart" or "Year of the Dragon"? The man was an emotional bomb on screen and I believe he still has the potential. The tragedy of his life seems to be the fact that he was just too real for the whole Hollywood-bullshit and could never really fit in, and yeah, okay, he did have an overinflated ego, but he payed the price - for 14 years nobody wanted to work with him but fortunately young directors like rodriguez or tarantino don´t care about his old rep and gave him a chance and I´m glad about that. Mickey is still a cool cat!
Oh, I still have love for Mickay. I'm just roughhousing is all. He OWNED Pope of Grenwhich Village.
Pretty helpful data, thank you for the article.
