There is an intensely over-heated quality of life in an Empire, perhaps because of the fundamentally intemperate nature of an imperium. National insecurities feuled by our imperial overreach leads to a dream-like quality of everyday life. One such incidence of surrealism in This Bush Imperium is the fuckwittage that is the magazine bidding war -- now up to $15 million -- for pictures of the unborn Brangelina twins still ensconced, comfortably, in the glorious womb of Ms. Jolie. Economically, to be sure, it makes perfect sense: pics like that pay for themselves in newsstand sales and free publicity; but morally -- morally -- it is pretty fucking dubious, no? Come on, in your heart you know it is. From Thisisshowbiz:
"They not even born, but a glimpse of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins is already worth $15 million - and counting.
A bidding war has broken out in the US between People magazine and OK! for the first exclusive pictures of the couple's babies, according to reports."
$15 million and counting ...
