Celebrity focused reporting continues to rise even as, unfortunately, news bureaus across the globe close down. This morning The Associated Press announced the appointment of three new entertainment positions. 26-year old Alicia Quarles, who has covered the Grammys, Academy Awards and Golden Globes, will be based in NYC has been named editor for national entertainment video. 36-year old Antonia Ball, who is a senior producer for AP Television in London and will remain across the pond was been named editor for international entertainment video. And 43-year old Nick Moore, "will direct operations across video, photo and textonline video manager in New York" as the manager of entertainment operations and output. From the press release:

"We believe that this group, with their vast knowledge of entertainment and their management skills, is a terrific team ready to lead the AP forward in global video coverage," Dan Becker, AP's director of entertainment content.

Anyhoo: Congrats to all.

UPDATE: The vigilant Paul Colford over at AP emails us, clarifying that their expanded entertainment coverage will not detract from their news coverage. "The AP expands its entertainment coverage while ALSO expanding its presence internationally, including the recent opening of yet another AP news bureau, this one in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia."
