"Sen. Barack Obama’s decision last week to shift vital Democratic National Committee political operations from Washington to his hometown makes it all but official: Chicago is the new capital of the Democratic Party. Home to Obama, his 33,000 square foot Michigan Avenue campaign headquarters, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel, and one of the nation’s most influential Democratic mayors, Richard M. Daley, Chicago once again seems to be at the center of the political universe. 'The Second City won’t be the second city anymore when Obama wins,' said former Chicago Rep. Martin Russo. 'Remember, Chicago has played some significant roles in the past, but obviously this would be the biggest role it has ever played: having a president of the United States from Chicago.'" (Politico)

"In an effort to rally a caucus that was largely supportive of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) in the Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will meet Tuesday night with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) to discuss a wide range of topics. A spokesman for the CHC confirmed that Obama will meet with as many members of the Hispanic Caucus as possible at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at 5 p.m." (TheHill)

"Samantha Boardman Rosen, Fernanda Niven, Kyle MacLachlan, YSL U.S. president Laura Lendrum, David Rockwell and John MacDonald were among the 1,000 people who turned out Monday night for Citymeals-on-Wheels' 23rd annual chef's tribute called 'Crème de la Crème,' where America's top chefs saluted the master of French cuisine .. Saks Fifth Avenue continued to be a sponsor of the event, which featured chefs serving samplings of their signature dishes, including David Bouley, Charlie Palmer, David Burke, Todd English, David Myers, Christian Delouvrier, Laurent Tourondel and Craft's Tom Colicchio, who posed for photos with Top Chef fans in between serving them duck pastrami with pickled red cabbage and sweet mustard."
