A Little Of The Old In And Out

In: Obama on Fatherhood. Win or lose this Presidential election, Senator Obama of Illinois has started a high-profile conversation in the mainstream media among African-Americans -- and families everywhere -- that will continue long after he has gone. Bill Cosby attempted to begin tis dialogue but his tone, clearly affected by the murder of his son, was acrid and thus easily dismissed.

Contrast Obama's message, if you will, with the Fertile Flavor Flav. Combine this with the Senator's socially conservative position on the effect of video games on impressionable youth (with which we agree), and you have the makings of a great migration to the center.

Out: M Night Shyamalan. Is America's next O. Henry a one-trick pony? Despite coming in third this week, The Happening, which withheld screeners until the last moment suffered from crushing reviews. So we wonder how much of a drop-off we can expect next week. From DeadlineHollywoodDaily:

"While No. 1 The Incredible Hulk and No. 3 The Happening had better-than-expected debuts overall, they experienced fall-offs from Friday to Saturday: -15% and -21% respectively."
