Media-Whore D'Oevres

"Bob Shrum, a Democratic strategist and frequent guest on Meet the Press, said he thinks that Tim Russert was 'the greatest political interviewer of our time and maybe all time. He held people to account. Politicians love to change their views depending on circumstances -- they are only human -- and there was Tim with a quote from six months ago, a year ago, five years ago, to put it up on the screen and say, 'Well, how do you explain your position today, when you said this five years ago?'" (Observer)

"MELISSA C. MORRIS was weighing her words carefully. The society wife, whose two-and-half-year-old blog about her rarefied life has garnered a devoted and growing readership, wanted to be sure nothing she said could be taken the wrong way. Over espresso at a restaurant near her Manhattan apartment, she said that, on the Internet and in life, 'I focus on the positive. I like to keep things lighthearted.' He says he likes the blog. Using a medium that often portrays women of her milieu as spoiled backstabbers, Mrs. Morris offers a rare perspective of New York society on her blog, May December, named in part because of the 30-year age gap between her and her husband. The defunct Socialite Rank once passed harsh judgment over the social ambitions of young Manhattan swells like Mrs. Morris, but it and other socialite observer blogs are generally written by outsiders (in the case of Park Avenue Peerage, a college student in Illinois). But Mrs. Morris, 28, not only lives the life of galas, country houses and world travel, but reports on it in posts utterly free of snark." (NYTimes)

"Ever look at a plant or a bunch of grass and just walk right by without screaming or calling the police? You're nuts! In M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, foliage is making people stand still, throw themselves off roofs, and, most damagingly of all, spew lousy dialogue." (Musto)

"I love Tila Tequila and in many ways I consider her my spiritual daughter. She is a beautiful Asian American woman with a head for business and a bod for sin. She rules and she’s got tattoos!! Oh and she is bisexual!! She’s great and I think her show “A Shot at Love” is groundbreaking and fabulously entertaining. I always find that I am rooting way more for Tila to get with the girls than the guys. It seems like a girl would be a better match for her, because the boys on the show are either too needy/clingy or too macho. They always seem to cast macho dudes who enjoy fighting because the season isn’t complete unless at least one contestant has to go to the hospital." (Margaret Cho)
