Media-Whore D'Oevres

"Love was in the air at Wednesday night's star-studded third-annual Cartier Love Day celebration gala held at the gallery-like home of contemporary art collectors Maria and William Bell in Bel Air. The elegant affair, held in Los Angeles for the first time, brought out class acts including this year's musically-inclined crop of ambassadors--Fergie, Ashanti, Common, Good Charlotte's Joel and Benji Madden, Hilary Duff, Janet Jackson, Eve and Emmy Rossum ... At the expansive estate, attendees including Jermaine Dupri, Eva Mendes, Nicole Richie, Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Honsou, Rosario Dawson, Bridget Moynahan and Chloƫ Sevigny enjoyed a festive evening that included a private dinner on the lawn, a chic poolside cocktail reception in the courtyard (love astrology readings, on-site sushi chefs and a black-and-white digital photo booth and slide show entertained for hours) and an unforgettable after-party that was punctuated by an invigorating live, and surprise, performance by a dazzling Diana Ross .. While Jackson and Dupri discreetly took in the concert from a slightly secluded balcony away from crowd, Eve boldly mingled with partygoers well into the evening and swayed to the beat with abandon." "It is hard to imagine how Alan Cumming manages to navigate the worlds of film and theater and yet still finds time for his tireless advocacy on behalf of organizations as diverse as AmFar, New Democracy Project and The New York Restoration Project. The Scottish-born actor, who was just tapped as the new host of PBS' 'Masterpiece Mystery,' makes it all seem as if there are more than 24 hours in a day." "The Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building in way, way, West Chelsea reminded me of a gigantic Chinese paper lantern, but then again, things often remind me of PAPER! The BVLGARI Diagano watch reminds me that I would like to have one instead of my tired old Rolex! Spotted: Kristian Laliberte, with ten minutes left till his birthday when I left him partying with the Blackbook folks… Vogue intern/Ranger Sean Avery, with Derek Blasberg in tow... Amy Sacco, who only had to walk around the corner from her boites to attend... And Melissa Berkelhammer, who said she checks out 'About Last Night…' which made us happy." (Papermag)
