Oh, Sherry!
Reuters is reporting this morning that the woman who broke the glass ceiling in Tinseltown is leaving:
"Sherry Lansing, one of the most powerful executives in Hollywood, plans to step down as chairman of Paramount Pictures when her contract expires at the end of 2005, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday."
As Forbes put it, "Lansing, a former teacher, actress and model, became the first female president of production for a Hollywood studio at 20th Century Fox Productions in 1980."
Reuters continues:
"Neither Paramount nor parent company Viacom Inc. officials were immediately available to comment on the report.
"Lansing plans to stay long enough to help pick a successor at the film studio and to help in the transition, the newspaper said, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter."
The Corsair has always wondered in the quiet of his soul, how someone who lives and works in LA can maintain such a corpselike pallor? Hmm. Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen Lansing up and about after daybreak? Is that how it goes Miss Sherry Lansing? Sell your soul to the Prince of Evil for to head a studio? I'm just saying ...
"The newspaper said Lansing, who became the first female chairman of Paramount in 1992, has made it known that she does not plan to seek another job in the entertainment industry."
The Corsair lauds Ms. Lansing for her accomplishments, and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

good point. I was typing that and thinking ... some transition might be nice ...
It won't succeed as a matter of fact, that's what I believe.
