"IFC joined forced with leading luxury lifestyle group Quintessentially to present a private screening of In The Loop, a political satire by British comedian Armando Iannucci. The movie, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance, is a big-screen reprisal of the BBC’s popular television series The Thick Of It, which chronicles the behind-the-scenes goings on of British and US governments right before the invasion if Iraq .. The screening, which was attended by actors Edie Falco, Jeremy Irons, and Anna Chlumsky (who seriously needs to update her imdb profile picture), was followed by a VIP after party at Madam Geneva at the Double Crown." "May 8th will be a memorable day in the nation’s capital. Why? The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) is hosting 'Writers Speak! A Potentially Regrettable Evening With Comedy Writers' at the Newseum in Washington , D.C. Through stand-up comedy routines and a panel discussion, WGAE members will focus on the phenomenon of audiences turning to comedy shows for news, as well as the growing synergy between Washington , Wall Street, the media, and the late night comedy/variety programs. The stand-up will be about laughs and not about policy, but the message for Washington will be serious. The writers, as well as Guild leadership, will spend the day meeting with members of Congress and the Obama Administration to discuss issues of importance to writers, such as public broadcasting appropriations, media consolidation, and an open Internet accessible to all. The meetings are part of the WGAE’s public affairs and outreach program .. WGAE President Michael Winship, who is also senior writer for Bill Moyers Journal, will moderate the panel discussion. Also taking part in the evening will be: J.R. Havlan (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart), Bill Scheft (Late Show With David Letterman), Anthony Jeselnick (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon), Matt Goldich (Best Week Ever), Tim Carvell (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and WGAE Council member), Opus Moreschi (The Colbert Report), Tom Ruprecht (Late Show With David Letterman), and Allison Abner (The West Wing)." "We here at PAPERMAG love us a little Gummer action! So how's this trifecta of cuteness at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival dinner???? It's Meryl Streep's three daughters Gracie, Mamie and Louisa Gummer! We included Mamie in our Beautiful People issue a few years ago and their brother Henry was also a BP with his band Bravo Silva (he now plays under the name Henry Wolfe)." (Papermag)
