The 14 House Members Who Will Change Their Mind

(image via prudentinvestor)

Because President Bush is a shitty communicator with zero political capital and because Senator Obama was too goddam cowardly to positively own the bailout issue -- he is ahead in the polls, doesn't want to try anything too risky -- and because Senator McCain played grandstanding grampa (Exaggerated cough suggesting feigned detachment), the vote has come to this. Days later, and tons of "artificial sweeteners" added, here we are again, at the hour of the wolf, about to gobble up this shit sandwich of a bailout. All because a bunch of Wall Street douchebags -- hopped up on their own filthy, immoderate Thumos (We told you so) -- have brought this country to near-ruin.

This time, however, the Whip counts will be more solid. From TheHill:

"Proponents of the massive financial rescue plan are expressing optimism that the House will pass it on Friday.

"At least 14 members who voted no on Monday have indicated that they will approve of the package that will be voted on on the House floor early Friday afternoon, according to interviews and a review of media reports.

"Members who have publicly suggested that they will approve of the new compromise include Democratic Reps. Shelley Berkley (Nev.), Emanuel Cleaver (Mo.), John Lewis (Ga.) and Hilda Solis (Calif.) and Republican Reps. Gresham Barrett (S.C.), Howard Coble (N.C.), Jim Gerlach (Pa.), Tim Murphy (Pa.), Jim Ramstad (Minn.), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.), John Shadegg (Ariz.), Lee Terry (Neb.), Patrick Tiberi (Ohio) and Zach Wamp (Tenn.).

"All 14 voted no on Monday."
