Political strategist James Carville was on Imus in the morning today, speaking from Chicago. Carville, interestingly, discounted the possibility of "The Bradley Effect" making a big impact on the general election. Both also spoke on how amazing it was that thus far race has not played a significant factor in 2008, as Obama is presently in the lead.
McCain traces the seed of McCain's demise -- "stick a fork in it, it's done" -- to his pick of Governor Palin for his running mate. "The Palin thing removed him from being a serious candidate," said Carville. "There is no evidence that this woman has given any thought to anything beyond her state."
Carville believes that the race is over unless Obama has a terrible debate performance and McCain closes it by election day. Carville said he believed that Obama would win because voters want to send a message to president Bush about how displeased they were with his performance.
