Amy Sedaris Signs With 20th Century Fox And Letterman's WorldWide Pants

It's like a Golden Age of Television. Dexter's back; Mad Men rules; and how about that True Blood? Our longtime unrequited media crush Rachel Maddow finally got her MSNBC show. Samantha Bee and James Jones are about to do a sitcom. DL Hughley is greenlighted to run amok in the CNN New York studio once a week. Amy Poehler is at work on her "Office" spin off. From Blackbook via TheHollywoodReporter:

"In the best female comedian news since Tina Fey well, did anything in recent weeks, Amy Sedaris and Strangers with Candy writing partner Paul Dinello have signed with 20th Century Fox and David Letterman's Worldwide Pants to create a single-camera television series. This will be Second-City-alum Sedaris's first series since the days of the infamous Jerri Blank, but in recent years she has kept herself busy as a New York Times bestselling author, guest-starring on TV, and lending her talents to supporting movie roles."

And, from Comedy Central's Lauren Corrau, President of Original Programming, the "urban perspective." From NYTimes:

"'Chocolate News' borrows the fake-news template from two of Comedy Central’s most successful programs, 'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart' and 'The Colbert Report,' but uses the conceit to fill a void of politically charged black-oriented comedy. The first season of this show, also created by Mr. Grier, a comedian and actor, is an equal-opportunity offender, skewering rappers, Maya Angelou, gangbangers and election fraud.

"'This is the perfect chance,' Mr. Grier said during an interview on Monday at the Bowery Hotel on the Lower East Side. 'I wanted something where I could have the clearest and most unfiltered artistic and creative voice. I had done the sitcom thing to lesser and lesser degrees of success.'"
