"The results of the SAG vote elected an equal number of Membership First candidates and Unite For Strength candidates -- 5 to 5 -- onto the 33-strong National Board from the Hollywood division. For MF, JoBeth Williams, Scott Bakula, Lainie Kazan, Keith Carradine and Joely Fisher won three-year terms. For U4S, Amy Brenneman, Adam Arkin, Ken Howard, Pamela Reed and Kate Walsh also won three-year terms. "FORMER Interview magazine owner Sandy Brant had a close call in the Hamptons this summer. She was boogie-boarding with her kids in East Hampton when 'a wave flipped her over and she slammed into a sand embankment,' a source said. Brant was airlifted to a hospital for surgery on the top of her spine." (PageSix)

"Famous French intellectual Bernard-Henri Lévy is optimistic about Barack Obama's chances in November. 'My feeling is that Barack Obama will win this election from far,' he said last night at the 92nd Street Y. A native French speaker in the next seat assured me he meant 'by far.' This, by the way, was not a 'prediction,' which Levy pointedly refused to make when asked to do so by the moderator, Sam Tanenhaus, the author and New York Times editor. 'Not a prediction,' he said, 'but a bet.'" (Observer)

"To score the part, she slept with the director. That was the joke Charlize Theron repeated countless times as she shuffled down the red carpet Wednesday night at the Tribeca Grand. The Cinema Society and Dior Beauty hosted a screening of Battle in Seattle, which stars Theron and was written and directed by her beau Stuart Townsend ... Actress Michelle Rodriguez seemed minimally concerned with her outfit. "I'm wearing Gucci and some French guy," she shrugged." (Fashionweekdaily)
