How About A MacArthur Fellowship Grant For Bloggers?

How About a MacArthur Fellowship Grant for Bloggers? Granted, blogging is a young form of journalism/writing/video presentation. Still, it is a vital form of communication that disseminates oftentimes critical information that is every bit as worthy of recognition by the MacArthur Foundation as, say, Fiber artistry or even Lighting Design.

Today the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's $500,000 'genius' grants were given out. Among the 2008 MacArthur Fellows was Stage Lighting Designer Jennifer Tipton and Structural Engineer / Architectural Preservationist John Ochsendorf. Worthy winners both; but how about some of the more accomplished bloggers?

According to the mission statement, the Macarthur Foundation, which has $7 billion in assets, "supports creative people and effective institutions committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world.

"In addition to selecting the MacArthur Fellows, we work to defend human rights, advance global conservation and security, make cities better places, and understand how technology is affecting children and society."

There are literally dozens of blogs who fit into those categories, no?
