"Montana's Governor Brian Schweitzer, who is sometimes mentioned in the Chattering Classes as a possible running mate for Senator Barack Obama is obsessed with the idea of ending America's addiction to big oil. The Governor aggressively promotes renewable energy development and conservation with rock star-like energy, having successfully pushed, among other green legislation, 10 percent ethanol content in Montana's gasoline." "Victoria Beckham may have been the toast of Hollywood last night - but she still couldn't muster a smile. The former Spice Girl cut a rather miserable figure as she arrived at the Beverly Thompson Hotel for a party thrown in her honour by Allure magazine. Her trademark pout was firmly in place as she she rolled up with husband David in their shiny Rolls Royce. Her best A-list friends Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale attended the lavish affair held in the hotel's Bond restaurant. The 34-year-old continued her recruit for new celebrity friends by also inviting Hollywood's lesbian couple du jour Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson." (Thisislondon)

"In true Betsey Johnson style, the designer toasted her 30th anniversary with a pink overload Thursday night at her SoHo store ...They weren't the only ones celebrating--Bee Shaffer stopped by before heading to her birthday dinner at Morandi. Meanwhile, guests nibbled on mini frozen treats--a welcome relief from the persistent heat--along with cotton candy and strawberry shortcake. Naturally, all were pink." (Fashionweekdaily)
