Jerome Corsi's Slimy Book Sales

There's just no way around it, Jerome Corsi's "book" -- some of which we have read before being hit by waves of nausea -- is a slimy hit-job held together in a tissue of lies. The book is just goddam sleazy, like watching the snuff-ish Faces of Death. It is also selling like hotcakes, surpassing such formidable authors and studiously researched works as Fareed Zakaria's "Post American World," David Carr's "Night of the Gun," and Parag Khanna's "Second World." From Ben Smith of Politico:

"Jerome Corsi's anti-Obama book is reportedly appearing for the second time atop the New York Times best-seller list.

"Details of his actual sales, from a source with access to Nielsen BookScan, show that his book has vastly outstripped other recent political titles, notably books critical of John McCain.

"BookScan reports that Corsi has sold about 40,000 copies last week. (BookScan figures typically though to include about 70 percent of sales, and may further understate the sales of a book that, like Corsi's, has been distributed through nontraditional channels.)

"By way of comparison, the best week of Fareed Zakaria's new book — now at No. 9 on the list — BookScanned about 11,000 copies."
