"Hip hop's greatest legends, newest names, and biggest fans came out to play Tuesday night for Vibe's 15th anniversary party at The Cathedral. From Salt-N-Pepa's Pepa to Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to Chanel Iman and handfuls of America's Next Top Models, generations of enthusiasts sipped Hennessy and supported the magazine and the night's performers, Doug E. Fresh, Naughty by Nature, Estelle, Brand Nubian, and Ryan Leslie ... Former Diddy umbrella-holder and From G's to Gents host Fonzworth Bently walked the red carpet in shoes made just for him in Italy: slippers with the silhouette of (what else?) a man holding an umbrella. Guests Cassie, Teyana, Heavy D, and T.I. mingled while Vibe editor in chief Danyel Smith and fashion director Memsor Kamarake while dishing about who they want for future covers. Said Kamarake, 'I don't think anyone has escaped our clutches yet!' Smith, however, disagreed. 'I want Whitney Houston back!'" (Fashionweekdaily)

"Ricki Lieberman is one Hillraiser (the designation for those who raised over $100,000 for Hillary Clinton) who’s not ready to give up the fight. Responding to Jason Horowitz’s story in this week’s Observer – in which Jason detailed the 'Electability Watch' newsletter that she’s been sending out every night since the Democratic primaries ended – Lieberman has written in to make it clear that her efforts are aimed at one goal: securing the Democratic nomination in two weeks for Hillary Clinton, who formally conceded the race on June 7." "Growing political unrest in places like Georgia, Mauritania and the Kashmir province highlight the need for news bureau boots-on-the-ground to ferret out the real story coming out of those unfamiliar, far off regions. Unfortunately, online competition has led to declining revenues which in turn has stoked the fires of cost-cutting at newspapers and television networks internationally. This perfect storm of closing foreign bureaus and the rise of post 9/11 global instability has left many stories of struggle around the world that need to be told conspicuously unrelayed. Brian Stelter of The New York Times writes today about the new realities of news coverage in this era of tightened belts .." (Kenneth Cole AWEARNESS)

"Our gal about the world, the peripatetic Georgette Mosbacher, with the flaming tresses and the million dollar smile has been having the summer that could be a memoir in itself.

Our New Age Auntie Mame, Georgette Mosbacher, the tycoon lady of Borghese (the cosmetics), the hostess who gives the mostest, has been away far, far from her glamorous Fifth Avenue aerie, far from her beloved dawgs, out of touch with her legions of friends for more than two months. Her summer started in late May when she traveled to Egypt on behalf of the UN, and at the invitation of Suzanne (Mrs. Hosni) Mubarak to participate on a forum about human trafficking at the World Economic Forum. This was followed by a dinner in Cairo, hosted at the magnificent home of the Chairman of ARTOC Group for Investment and Development, Mohammed Shafik Gabr. Then came June, and the lady was off to Syria with Barbara Walters." (NYSocialDiary)
