Betsey Johnson's 30th Anniversary Party

About ten years ago -- is it that long? -- The Corsair was part of the second group that put together Papermag.com, 1.0. Back then, pre-blogging, Paper did a chat series (and message board, where they kind of discovered us), and the first one guest Betsey Johnson, who was a great sport and less celebrated than she is now. She brought her daughter Lulu and a great attitude as she answered questions online from fans around the world. It was all so new back then, the internets. The "chat host" for the evening was moi. Everything afterwards is kind of hazy because there was potato vodka -- the chat sponsor -- involved.

Time flies when you are having fun. It's been 30 years since she began. From Papermag:

"I am still playing with the hot pink gift bag that one could tell was jam-packed with love, generosity and appreciation (alongside the gorgeously packaged products... like, for goodness sake, a WATCH?), in honor of the fabulous 30 years of customers who have always supported Betsey Johnson. A longtime PAPER friend, when asked which of these she considers most important -- sex, laughter, music or fashion -- she answered, 'All of them! It's a miracle. I have all of them! But not marriage. I won't do that again. Lovers? Yes!'"
