McCain: Hawkish On Russia

Senator John McCain -- of that generation -- is so aggressively hawkish on Russia (Get them out of the G8), that many in the foreign policy establishment (and even his "old friends") think he's a little batshit-crazy on the subject. We do too, quite frankly. But it is understandable considering that he spent much of his adult life -- History is Tragedy -- and his entire political life engaged in a Cold War against the Russian Bear.

But that was then, this is now.

And while Russia's hyper-aggression towards Georgia, coinciding, ominously, with the opening-ceremonies of the Olympics and China's "coming out party" suggests *The Corsair shudders* dangerous times ahead to say the least, McCain's inflammatory rhetoric -- typical Cold Warrior pot-boiler thriller stuff this -- argues, more forcefully than any rejoinder by Obama on the merits of diplomacy, why it is time for a changing of the guard ... and of the generation. Shnell!
