A Little of the Old In and Out

In: Jude Law. Doood, what is it with Jude Law? Sure, he's the charming cad with the accent that sends the hearts of black-clad Conde Nast editrixes hearts aflutter like George Clooney did back in the day, but is he really that hott? (The Corsair mistaken aback by the incredulous silence) Okay (Averted gaze), I guess he is. First, my blog wife sings his praises and, now, according to Fashionweekdaily, "the winning bid for last Thursday?s silent auction of photographer Mark Seliger?s shots of Jude Law (as they appeared in the July 2002 issue of GQ) was (ED Note: Fashionweek Daily corrected the figure to $850)"

Still -- What the fuck?!

Out: Celebrity Rage, Enter: Sir Elton. First Avril Lavigne, amateur "box kicker," said that her famous pseudopunk temper could be blamed on her bad eating habits, which did not include Fred Durst, now, Elton John blames his outbursts on, well, The Corsair won't entertain the possibility that these outbursts have anything to do with the release of his CD PeachTree Road, anyhoo: here's what Reuters says:

"John told Britain's Sunday Times magazine (subscription requ'd) that his behavior had changed since beating drug and alcohol addictions 14 years ago, yet 'the rage and the temper are still there ... but it's part of being creative."

"The British superstar, famous for his outbursts, grabbed headlines last month when he cursed and shouted at Taiwanese photographers for surprising him as he arrived at Taipei airport, calling them 'rude, vile pigs.'

"At a London award ceremony a week later, he launched into a foul-mouthed tirade at pop star Madonna, accusing her of charging fans outrageous prices to see her lip-synch in concert.

"'Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds ($134) to see them should be shot,' he said.

"John, 57, said he was working to rein in his temper.

"'I don't seem to have anger -- I have rage. There are still times, especially when I'm tired, when the bad temper and the irrationality come out. And I hate that. Because I'm trying to change it.'

"'... I'm not happy being in the limelight much. I don't want to be at every party. I used to love it. I hate it now. My life's changed.'"

Hmmm: "I'm not the man they think I am at home/Oh no no no I'm a rocket man/Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone .."

In: O.M.I. According to PaperMag.com:

"No, It doesn't matter that her boyish, crack-skinny ass looms high above our heads on the Rocawear billboard in Times Square, or that she's the first Dominican model to spread for the highfalutin pages of German and Italian Vogue, or that the entire industry, from Gabbana to Gaultier, is on her dick.

"Omahyra Mota doesn't care about fashion.

"'I'm not gonna talk about my modeling career,' says the 20-year-old runway obsession. 'It's how I make my money, and it's a great way to make money. It's how I met the bitches, thanks God, but that's it.'

"The bitches, Brazilian-born beauties Mayana Moura, 20, and Isabel Ibsen, 21, quickly grunt their approval. They too are mackin' it internationally on the modeling tip, and they too don't care about fashion. What they want to talk about instead is O.M.I., the trio's newly formed punk-rock band. Although they've yet to put out so much as a press release, the bochinche on the street is that labels are already scrambling to turn them out. There's no album release in sight, but they've already opened for the respected likes of old-school legends Suicidal Tendencies and Cypress Hill. Most recently, they set off the Heatherette after-party during this past season's Fashion Week."

Out: Liz Hurley. Question: Has Liz Hurley ever not jinxed a film project she has been featured in? The EPA ought to investigate Hurley for environmental pollution. Bedazzled and Serving Sara come to mind. Anyhoo: her latest stinkbomb is going straight to video, says Tim Rider of The Sun:

"LIZ Hurley serves up her sexiest-ever scenes in a new film ? but can?t stop it going straight to video.

"The beauty, 39, screams in ecstasy in the red-hot romp with Method co-star Jeremy Sisto.

"Sisto, 30, is seen kissing her boobs and squeezing her up against a wall. A source said: 'Liz looks fantastic ? it?s a very horny scene.'"

"But the saucy drama will not be released in cinemas, going direct to video instead."

In: Phoebe Eaton. The coolest journo in New York, our favorite Yakuza scholar, the most beautiful Phoebe Eaton makes The List of out pal in blog, His Excellency, NYSocial Diary's David Patrick Columbia, who describes her thusly:

"... Phoebe has an ethereal, winsome manner about her, the kind of personality you might expect to write romantic novels (or maybe living in them). In real Manhattan life, however, she?s a hardhitting ? not mean, mind you ? and trenchant journalist and if the subject has a few or maybe a lot of blemishes showing (or lurking) Phoebe Eaton is very likely to report them in a way that you won?t forget."

Although The Corsair has always considered the elegant prose and winning manner of Ms. Eaton his own personal secret, it's good to see the gal being recognized. Cheers, Phoebe, take a bow.
