The Banned Diesel Ad
(image via vogue)
Frankly, we find the above photo to be mildly provocative. It reminds us of our college years. But something rather fascistically known as the "Advertising Standards Authority" has banned it. On their webstie they describe themselves thusly: "The ASA is here to make sure all advertising, wherever it appears, meets the high standards laid down in the advertising codes."
Charmed, we're sure. (Averted Gaze) According to BritishVogue:
"THE Diesel ad, featuring a naked man's body being straddled by three pairs of women's legs, has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority. The Italian fashion house claimed that the image, which is no longer running, was intended for an adult audience who would have understood the irony and fun it represented. However, the ASA ruled that the position of the women in relation to the man's body clearly alluded to sexual behaviour and it was likely to cause serious or widespread offence."
To whom?
