Media-Whore D'Oeuvres

"MM is just back from the fabulous Life Ball in Vienna and here is the first report from the trenches!!! First off, check out some cute shots of the opening dinner with special guest President Bill Clinton, who was in heaven with all the young meat around him!!!! Katy Perry was the headline performer and was tons of fun. On the flight over Katy and her friends played games and engaged in hijinks like kissing sleeping passengers! MM was asleep, and the boozed up Kai Kuhne was dared by Katy to 'teabag' MM meaning to dangle a wet teabag in MM's face." (Papermag)

"Martin Scorsese was on hand to take part in the ceremony re-naming the pavilion’s conference and panel space, 'The Roger Ebert Conference Center,' leading an array of well-wishers that included Cannes fest head Thierry Fremaux, filmmaker Paul Cox, critics and writers Pierre Rissient, Kenneth Turan, and Anne Thompson, distributors Michael Barker & Tom Bernard from Sony Pictures Classics, and fest heads include Gary Meyer and Julie Huntsinger from Ebert’s beloved Telluride Film Festival. In a red ribbon cutting ceremony, Scorsese introduced 'his old friend' who he thanked for his critiques, saying, '[you’ve] done so much for movies and the people who make movies.' And Ebert thanked Scorsese and the sizeable crowd and photographers who braved the rain at the seaside American Pavilion, one of many tents at the festival’s International Village." (IndieWIRE)

"A select contingent of New York's very own fashion set once again hopped aboard a chartered Austria Airlines flight for Vienna last Thursday, bound for Life Ball's 17th annual charity extravaganza. Unlike previous seasons, the airborne antics were kept at a minimum--but still, very few slept. After a quick respite in the Vienna airport welcome lounge, guests were whisked off to their hotels to prepare for the night's revels. The weekend festivities officially kicked-off with a cocktail reception at the Le Meridien Hotel, where celebs like Katy Perry, Roisin Murphy, and Ivana Trump joined founder Gery Keszler to toast the event, Europe's largest charity fundraiser for AIDS/HIV research. NYC scenesters Richie Rich, Suzanne Bartsch, and Amanda Lepore mingled with the event's designers, The Blonds, while sipping cocktails and thankfully, tons of Red Bull. Meanwhile, Kai Khune vamped for the cameras with Murphy, Perry showed off her vogue-ing skills with the House of Extravaganza crew and veteran Life Baller Lydia Hearst worked the room in a bright Hervé Léger number."
