Robert Burns Was Bob Dylan's Biggest Influence

Bob Dylan is probably the most important American musician ever. He is, IMHO, the most important musician of the 20th century. That's a pretty large statement, considering: 1) American music is, in many ways, a confluence of all the musical stylings -- Old and New World -- that have come before, and 2) Dylan is still alive and making music, musing on XM. Dylan's just divulged what we already knew: his influence is in poetry -- but did you think Burns? From the Press Association:

"Bob Dylan has revealed his source of greatest inspiration - the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

"The music legend was asked to name the lyric or verse that has had the biggest effect on his life.

"He selected the 1794 song A Red, Red Rose, which is often published as a poem, by the man regarded as Scotland's national poet."
