Bloomberg's Hillary Homecoming Party

Almost more interesting than the fact that Senator Hillary Clinton attended the first non fundraising gala since her Presidential run is the fact that Mayor Bloomberg -- who may or may not be up for Treasury Secretary in either an Obama or McCain administration -- threw this "Homecoming." Clinton, dressed in crisp blues, pressed the flesh with her many admirers in New York politics and media. Clearly Kevin Sheekey, whose job appears to be to get his charge Michael Bloomberg to the next level, is earning his keep. Said NySocialDiary, "Chevy Chase opened the evening with some funny remarks about himself, his age, his hair, Hillary’s hair, and just that snappy, surprise-I’m-a-wiseass patter of his." From the salmon-colored weekly:

"Michael Bloomberg welcomed Hillary Clinton back into New York’s political scene with a party at Gracie Mansion last night, closing the two-hour party with a live chorus singing 'You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.'

"Among the guests were Governor David Paterson, Senator Chuck Schumer, Representative Charlie Rangel, Barbara Walters, Chevy Chase and Tina Brown. Inside Edition sent a crew.

"After trading jokes about presidential ambitions with the mayor, Clinton told the crowd of political leaders, business tycoons and reporters that she’s happily back at her job as New York’s junior senator."

We're so sure. Among the NYC political royalty (via NySocialDiary): Ed Koch, Al D'Amato, Mort Zuckerman, David Dinkins, Ray Kelly, Oscar de la Renta, Felix Rohatyn and the full list here.
