"Reclusive comedian Dave Chappelle missed two flights out of Ohio last night and failed to get to a Manhattan fund-raiser for Congressional candidate Kevin Powell of Brooklyn .. 'My opponent does not chair a single committee after 25 years,' Powell said to the audience. 'I want y’all to think about that for a second. Why doesn’t he? Because he’s missed about a thousand votes since 1993.' Later, while comedian Chris Rock, rapper RZA of Wu-Tang Clan and drummer ?uestlove of The Roots mingled in the V.I.P. section with big-dollar donors, Powell returned to the stage and told the crowd of several hundred they would be admitted free to a rescheduled event sometime later." "The British seem to have the biggest appetite for Sex Scandals, in the Western Hemisphere, especially in the area known as kinky. The Americans love a scandal but most of ours are in the milder adulterous, extra-marital department like the current walk-out of Madonna and A-Rod. Our politicians are especially vulnerable as many Americans, far holier than thou, hypocritically entertain the idea that politicans, like the clergy, should be sacrosanct in their behavior .. The current scandal which has the British (and European) public riveted is about S&M and involves a man named Max Mosley who up until recently has been in the racing/Formula One business .. That Max Mosley was not only into S&M with $200 an hour hookers (he’d hire five at a time) but it was on YouTube for godsakes!" (NYSocialDiary)
"If Republicans are worried about the third-party presidential candidacy of former GOP Rep. Bob Barr and the possibility that he could win enough votes to affect the outcome in several states, they aren’t showing it. At present there are no plans to follow the time-honored method of dealing with pesky third-party candidates by seeking to knock Barr off various state ballots. Indeed, when asked for comment about the Barr campaign, John McCain’s campaign flat out declined to offer one." (Politico)
