The Real World: Brooklyn?

Oh no. No no no. How could they? Peasants! MTV, of which nothing good can come (The Corsair uncorks a "crisp" Chablis Terroir de Fleys 2002), announced today that they will begin production on "The Real World: Brooklyn," thereby despoiling The Corsair's beloved borough and sanctum sanctorum. From JustJared:

"'The Brooklyn season, like the Hollywood season, will focus on what people loved about The Real World when it launched in 1992 - genuine people, meaningful conflict and powerful stories,' said Jon Murray, The Real World Co-Creator and Chairman & President of Bunim-Murray Productions. 'We’re thrilled that MTV is allowing The Real World turn 21!'"

If only they would smother it vigorously. That formula has gotten stale. And, come to think of it, is there anything wholly compelling about drunken people in their 20's, aside from their obnoxious ambition and their post-adolescent good looks? Even good looks fail to impress after a while when the content of one's character is composed mainly of Gin, as so often happens at that time of one's life (Exaggerated cough suggesting feigned detachment).

And is the tight body and the fierce competitive spirit enough to get us to care about the messy detritus of their inconsequential lives? We, quite frankly, stopped watching TRW after the intervention with the boozy "Ruthie" in Hawaii. The show no longer amuses us (Averted Gaze).
