Helena Christensen: "Photography is My Favortite Form of Art"

(image via dailymail)

It killed us to find out that Helena Christensen, our unrequited media crush for these past years, is a fan of photography. We, of course, don't get it. How can something so ephemeral and intellectually non-serious be possibly construed as Art? And don't even get us to speak on the subject of erotic photos as "Art" (That's just an excuse to get people to pose for porn). There will never, ever be a photographer with remotely as much talent as Poussin or Rembrandt. The very fact that Annie Leibovitz, who relies almost wholly on sex and -- how controversial! -- shock, thereby considered a "genius" suggests that that word is the most overused in the English language. From Fashionweekdaily:

"Cameras were out in full force last night--and not only thanks to Patrick McMullan--as Chelsea Piers hosted the International Center of Photography's 24th annual Infinity Awards. Before dinner, guests perused photography books from the likes of Diane Arbus, Susan Meiselas and Marc Riboud. Host Kelly Klein shared pictures with Helena Christensen, who dished, 'Photography is my favorite form of art, so I'm going to enjoy being here with so many wonderful photographers!'"

It is not inconceivable that the camera's love of Helena's ethereality might have something to do with that decision. We're pretty sure though that a stern Helena Christensen could easily convince us the error of our aesthetic ways. So -- Convince us, then, Helena: "convince" us!
