Samantha Power For US Ambassador To The United Nations

Readers of this blog know that The Corsair -- having attended the UN School and grown up as the son of a Ugandan ambassador -- is preoccupied by the goings on at Turtle Bay. Allow us to continue with a variation on that Internationalist theme. The New York Post recently editorialized that Samantha Power, the Obama advisor forced to resign over a sketchy "reporter" in Scotland, may, after the non-story subsides, return to power as Secretary of State. It's all good.

We, however, would like to push for Power's return, post-electoral spin period, as the American Ambassador to the United Nations in an Obama administration. The post -- pre-Bush, 43 -- was in recent memory a stomping ground for statesmen like Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Jeanne Kirkpatrick and the internationalist George Herbert Walker Bush, 41.

No more.

Turtle Bay, we argue, would better suit this woman, this moral giant, who has done so much to thwart the black ambitions of genocidal tyrants everywhere.
