Media-Whore D'Oeuvres
"The triumphant return of the VF Oscar party - canceled last year because of the writers' strike - featured Kate Winslet clutching her Oscar, Vivi Nevo and fiancée Ziyi Zhang sitting with Brian Grazer, Wendi Murdoch and Phillip Dauman, and MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe huddling with Lyor Cohen at the inside bar. Elsewhere, Madonna, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher threw a party, as they did last year, at Guy Oseary's house, but with less success .. Meanwhile, Prince's bash was a full-on 'disaster.' Our spy added, 'At around 6 p.m., Prince's camp abruptly announced the party had been moved from his house to Club Avalon and would be open to the public with a $100 admittance fee. There was no open bar, not even in VIP.'" (PageSix)
"The Art of Elysium-benefitting domino nights have become a hotly anticipated Hollywood event; this time, Vanity Fair, Bally creative director Brian Atwood, and Kate Bosworth hosted a poolside, rooftop game night at the new Andaz West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip .. As always, droves of competitive chicsters like Helena Christensen, Demi Moore, Angie Harmon, Monique Lhuillier, Prince, Rachel Zoe, Zoe Saldana, and many more came out (in their finest!) to compete at the Hollywood Dominos game, which would raise money for the arts-centric charity. And though the festive night was enjoyed by all, only one could claim the title and trophy: for this round, Ashton Kutcher was named Mr. Hollywood Domino." (Fashionweekdaily)
"It’ll be months before anyone knows how much advertisers spent on this year’s cable television upfront, perhaps not until the fall. This year’s ad market will likely be one of the most dragged out in history. But that’s not to say it’ll be a bad upfront for cable networks .. Still, sellers aren’t in any hurry to begin negotiating. Sellers are currently at a disadvantage. With the weak economy, advertisers are holding off on committing to spending millions of dollars, giving buyers the upper hand in negotiations. 'We’re definitely seeing advertisers pull back,' says Christine Olson, vice president and cable activation director at Starcom USA. 'Cable may end up in better shape in the upfront, but they are [now] taking a pretty big hit versus previous quarters.' ..Cable TV ratings are trending up. Among adults 18-49, cable is up 5 percent over last season as of early February, according to the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau. Broadcast TV is down more than 8 percent."(Medialifemagazine)
"Last Friday was the 85th birthday of Gloria Vanderbilt who is still living here in New York in her aerie on Beekman Place. Gloria is an industrious American princess. She has lots of friends and possibly some that she sees fairly often but she’s also one of those women who always has a lot of projects and plans, nowadays usually having to do with art. For several decades in the century just passed she was one of the most famous women in the world – from the age of five or six when the great custody case was waged for her by her aunt, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, against her mother Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, through her four marriages to four interesting and creative men including director Sidney Lumet, Leopold Stokowski with whom she had two sons (and two more with Wyatt Cooper including the now very famous Anderson, many of whose fans are so young they don’t know just how stellar was his ma)." " day after many of them appeared on the Sunday morning talk show circuit, a handful of the GOP’s future presidential prospects addressed a private gathering in Washington of a little-known but increasingly influential conservative group. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford all appeared Monday at the regular gathering of Legacy, a group of mostly 40-and-under Republicans with roots in Texas but membership across the country. The well-heeled group strives to avoid media attention and does not let reporters attend their meetings. But their regular gatherings always draw marquee Republican figures, hungry to network with current and future donors to the party." (BenSmith/Politico)

"his morning, the beautiful Chelsea Art Museum was the scene of an early morning breakfast (think tea, scones and muffins) featuring a selection of looks from Designers & Agents (the independent, international alternative fashion trade show). The hook here was the fact that it was styled and curated by iconic and beloved fashion columnist Lynn Yaeger!" (Papermag)
"At the Pacific Design Center, Elton John's AIDS Foundation party drew the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Victoria Beckham, and Elle Macpherson .. Juliette Lewis, dancing up a storm in the emptying dining room, proved she had stronger party legs than anyone." (Style)
"Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan had a spat at Oseary's. A source said, 'Sam was so nice and chill. She came up to the deejay booth to speak to Jus Ske and DJ Kiss. But then Lindsay came up and started to argue with Sam. The more Sam tried to calm her down, the more irate Lindsay became.'" (PageSix)
"Howard (Stern) had Angie Everhart come in after that. Howard said that he had to take a look at her as she was coming in. Robin said that she was showing a little bit with her pregnancy. Angie had some trouble with her headphones and was out of breath a little bit. She said that she was excited to see him. Howard said he wanted to speak frankly with her about some stuff .. she said that this pregnancy happened unexpectedly and it's not unwanted to she's keeping it .. Howard said that he read that the father of this child is the guy who was roughing her up. Angie didn't want to talk about that. She asked him to move along and get off of that subject. She threatened to leave. She said that she would leave if she had to ..Howard said that Angie asked him to introduce her to Mike Piazza but he told her that he didn't know her. Angie said that he was on the show a few times. Howard said he wasn't interested in her having sex with other guys (they dated for a short time) so he didn't want to help her find someone."
