Fashion Week Wrap
"Despite the mounting pile of hurty shoes under our desk -- the Fashion Week equivalent of hoarding potable water -- we weren't rushing to enter that fray, so we passed along last night's Daily dinner duties and checked out the Museum of Sex's 'Sex in Design' opening instead. Between the drag queens, office supply-clad performance artists, dildo-shaped cookware, and provocative poster retrospective, it didn't disappoint .." (FishbowlNY)
"Going through all the swags from #nyfw that's piled up in a corner of my apartment." (TinaLaRoo/Twitter)
"This Fashion Week, Barbie sponsored the gift bags at the tents, which means they're very vinyl, very pink, and very attractive to editors' kids. To get one, you need a voucher, and that's when things get complicated: The vouchers are little, easily lost slips of paper that got handed out with the Fashion Week passes on the first day. All week, we saw fashion assistants running across the tents carrying five or six bags at a time (example above) .." (Racked)
"Hollis Wakeema's catwalk strut is quite the memorable one. She is always energetic and makes the clothes come alive; even at presentations where the models are instructed to just stand and pose, she just stands and poses with energy and life. Once chatting backstage at Chris Benz, she shared her thoughts on fashion and the economy. 'There are just fewer shows in general, even some of the bigger designers pulled out. And its not all for lack of money, it's just maybe the way they feel about the economy, personally. Like Vera Wang, she's a huge designer and she pulled out. I think maybe just out of respect for America as a whole -- this is a difficult time, people are losing their homes and people need to feed their kids.'" (Papermag)
"tragedy struck #nyfw in the form of zac posen. hideousness reigned in a collection that was less runway, more *project* runway." (Chopinlizst)

"Host and supermodel Natasha Poly held court for her cover of the second issue of the last magazine in a Tribeca loft. Michael Stipe, Zoe Kravitz, Natalia Vodianova, Justin Portman, Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Richard Chai, Robert Geller, Stavros Niarchos, Vladimir Roitfeld, Stephen Gan, and Mario Sorrenti all came to imbibe the last of the gratuit fashion week cocktails and enjoy tunes courtesy of The Savoire Fair .. The outfits were casual, the music was loud, and the dancing lasted until the wee hours." (Fashionweekdaily)
