Ana Marie Cox Is Sixth Most Influential DC Twitterer

(imager via fortunecookiechronicles)

Ana Marie Cox, who we like, is rather amazing on the Tweets. Tweettastic, we might add. Perhaps no one quite works this new medium of microblogging on the Tweet Low the way Ana Marie does. When last we observed Ana had just under 40,000 followers (quite impressive for a non-Hollywood star) but that number -- seemingly over the weekend -- has grown to just under 80,000. And counting! From Patrick Gavin at Politico:

"The former Wonkette makes the cut for two reasons: productivity and popularity. At 54,000 followers and climbing, Cox’s tweets (sometimes as many as 100 a day) are among the most followed in Washington. With attitude and humor, Cox documents just about everything: White House briefings, her cats, her former employers, her ongoing debate about whether to wear pants around the house — and political sound bites on TV that could pass for bad pickup lines at a bar ('My filibuster lasts all night long').

After many media homes -- and one presently at Air America -- it seems Ana has finally found a source of stability, her metier, namely, in her own adept maneuverings in this digital world. It would be nice to see someone as naturally witty as Cox get some of the glory horded by types like Perez Hilton.
