This is kind of surprising news. The women 25-54 demographic has been dominated by Lifetime TV for three years in a row. According to their press release, "sparked by cable's top drama among W18-49 ('Army Wives'), the year's four most-watched original movies among W18+ and W25-54 ('The Memory Keeper's Daughter,' 'Coco Chanel,' 'The Two Mr. Kissels,' 'Flirting with Forty'), and the network's first primetime comedy series in a decade ('Rita Rocks')." What about Oxygen, which was acquired by NBC U last year?
Flirting with 40, starring Heather Locklear, garnered 4 million viewers, an really impressive number for cable. Who knew?
Less than a 8 years ago Lifetime was synonymous with "victimy," but since then the programming lineup has gotten stronger and they've added original programming.
