"The former 'Baywatch' babe raised plenty of eyebrows on Saturday afternoon when she showed up to an Uber-posh art gallery event as part of Art Basel Miami Beach looking like she just rolled out-of-bed. Pamela donned only a pair of black and orange underpants with an off-the-shoulder shirt, topped off with a woolly beanie over her unbrushed blonde locks. According to an insider, Anderson ... was accompanied by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, whom she dated back in 2003.." (Fox411)
"While the Bush administration most recently advocated the idea of 'normalizing' relations with Sudan as a carrot approach to ending a crisis it labeled a genocide, Obama's foreign policy appointees have pushed for sticks. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the nominee for secretary of state, has called for a NATO-enforced no-fly zone to 'blanket' Darfur in order to prevent Sudanese bombing of villages. The appointee for U.N. ambassador, Susan E. Rice -- a key Africa adviser to the Clinton administration during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, when President Bill Clinton was sharply criticized for failing to act -- has pushed for U.S. or NATO airstrikes and a naval blockade of Sudan's major port to prevent lucrative oil exports. Rice has vowed to 'go down in flames' advocating tough measures." (WashPo)
"My Miami madness began in my Louboutins with 'Diamonds, Gold and Dreams,' the amazing video installation by David Lynch that was unveiled at the Cartier Dome opening night dinner, hosted by Vanity Fair, MOCA, and of course, Cartier. The dream-come-true 'floating diamonds' projected on the interior of the dome complimented not only the magnificent one-of-a-kind Cartier jewels, but also the shimmering dinner guests--including Vanity Fair's Ingrid Sischy and Sandy Brant, Julian Schnabel, Becca Cason Thrash (looking sensational in Givenchy), Calvin Klein, Naomi Campbell (arriving fashionably late).. As usual, the art world and the fashion world were out in full force this year: Peter Brant and Stephanie Seymour (also stunningly represented in Marilyn Minter's gorgeous paintings) .. The music world also descended on Miami for the festivities. Shakira shopped for Latin American art, while Beyonce and Jay-Z scoped out Aaron Young's artwork at Chelsea's Bortolami Gallery. Grace Jones perused the booths, while Lenny Kravitz checked out David LaChapelle's 'Jesus is My Homeboy' photography series. Miami's newest hotel, The Mondrian, was the scene of a Pharrell Williams dinner for Colette .." (Lisa Anastos/Fashionweekdaily)
"'IT'S like herding cats,' said one of the 64 New Yorkers assembled yesterday for a group photo for Vanity Fair marking the 50th birthday of the Four Seasons restaurant .. (Photographer Todd) Eberle later suggested Blackstone Group billionaire Stephen Schwarzman switch his centrally located seat with food and restaurant critic Gael Greene, who was off on the left. Schwarzman didn't budge .. As Eberle was arranging the tableaux, he got a laugh when he suggested that Georgette Mosbacher stick out her left leg, which was in a cast. 'It matches Ed Koch's white socks,' Eberle explained." (PageSix)
"William Shatner stopped by to promote his new A & E interview show, 'Raw Nerve,' and immediately complained about not getting the chance to appear in the latest 'Star Trek' movie ..A caller asked if William had ever done drugs, so William said he'd gone to Amsterdam one time and tried mushrooms: 'We ran up to the hotel room and stayed there for 24 hours and left the next day.'" "Perhaps it’s all the hope and change in the air these days, or maybe it’s just my defeat-induced life of unemployed leisure, but I have been filled with a warm and fuzzy feeling. First, there was John McCain’s exquisite concession speech. Drafted by Mark Salter, and handed to him on election night in a somber suite at the Biltmore hotel in Phoenix, the speech set a new standard for grace in defeat. That night, as we waited for the polls to close so Senator McCain could publicly concede the election to Barack Obama, McCain said to Salter, 'It’s your best ever, my boy, your best ever.' The pit in my stomach turned into a lump in my throat. The journey that Salter and McCain had been on together for so many years had come to an end." (TheDailyBeast)
"People say that DJs Marcelo and Amylu are the Latin Misshapes -- without the attitude. At the hugely successful Nacotheque party that they throw at Fontana's twice a month, all the music is en español, running the gamut from electro to rock to '50s to salsa to Spanish versions of The Ramones and Blondie." "Saturday Night was the much-anticipated, glam rock party Bowie Ball at Santos’ Party House. A fantastic group of DJs, promotors, and NY party fixtures teamed up to host the event, including nightlife impresario Deryck Todd, DJ Michael T of the late, great Motherfucker, L Magazine’s Zachary David Palmer, and Project Runway’s Stella B. Zotis. We were greeted at the door by familiar face Thomas Onorato, and once inside were treated to two packed dance floors, live music performances by Ziggy Starlet, Pixie Harlots, and Michael Formika Jones, and a burlesque show by the gorgeous Dirty Martini."
