On the L: There's something about Lionel Ritchie. Recently, listening to 'Say You, Say Me,' it struck The Corsair that Ritchie may quite possibly be possessed with what can only be possibly construed as pop-genius. Is there such a thing? Don't get it twisted, we are all about The Permanent Things. But can there be such a thing as a disposable work of Art? One not necessarily meant to Last-The-Ages, but clearly a work of Democratic Art -- temporary, playful, brilliant in its surfac-y play. If so, then "Say You, Say Me" is such a creature.
And Kate Moss agrees with the Corsair, so there. From the 3Am Girls:
"We all know Kate Moss loves to party All Night Long. So it was Truly fitting that she roped in legend Lionel Ritchie to serenade her as she saw in her 35th birthday.
"We watched as the supermodel draped herself over Lionel at London's swanky Dorchester Hotel -and begged him to give her a tune.
"Kate shrieked with delight as the old-timer belted out a string of hits including All Night Long. And her rock star fella Jamie Hince did his bit too, tapping away on a table to get a drumbeat going.
"Lionel had been sitting with pals in another section of the hotel when Moss came over to him and said Hello. It was certainly him she was looking for and she invited him into the China Tang restaurant. Pretty soon she and her pals including Skunk Anansie were all Dancing on the Ceiling. At the stroke of midnight they serenaded her with a burst of Happy Birthday. An insider said: 'Kate was over the moon with her dinner party but Lionel was certainly the icing on the cake.'"
