A Little Of The Old In And Out

In: Daniel Craig. As the economy tanks, people want escapist entertainment so that we don't have to watch our 401 K's spectacularly evaporate (The Corsair sips some suds). To that end, the release of "Quantum of Solace" appears perfectly timed to divert the international imagination. From DeadlineHollywoodDaily:

"..(T)his weekend's big news was overseas: MGM/Sony's Quantum Of Solace, the 22nd James Bond motion picture, had record-setting launches in the UK, France and Sweden this weekend. Total FSS take was $38.6 million on 2,123 prints, generating more than $18,000 per print. The pic expands into 57 additional markets next weekend. But Bond made box office history on its opening day in the UK, taking a staggering £4.9 million and making it the biggest Friday opening of all time. This shattered the previous record held by Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire, which took £4.0m."

Out: Lindsay Lohan. If, internationally, Daniel craig's name is gold, then what precious metal is Lindsay Lohan? LiLo's reputation had started to improve at home and abroad after her monogamous relationship with Sam Ronson blossomed and there were few -- if any -- episodes of "shenanigans." But, at least in the UK, Lohan's past is catching up with her as her performance at scheduled appearances veers "woozy." From the 3AMGirls:

"Lindsay Lohan has been axed as host of the World Music Awards in Monaco next weekend.

"At the last minute show bosses panicked over whether she was actually up to the job.

"We were surprised she was ever asked.

"When the 22-year-old actress presented the 2006 awards at Earls Court we were cringing in the crowd as she botched up all her lines and called Beyonce to the stage while she was still getting her hair done!"

Oh no she didn't.

Maybe that's what held up Joe the Plumber at that McCain rally the other day.
