Chip Reid Named CBS News Chief White House Correspondent

CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus announced today Chip Reid is named CBS News Chief White House Correspondent. From the press release:

"Reid joined CBS News in 2007 as Capitol Hill Correspondent and covered the 2008 Presidential campaign extensively, most recently traveling with Sen. John McCain. The appointment is effective January 5, 2009. Reid will continue to cover the transition in the coming months. In addition, Jim Axelrod, who has served as Chief White House Correspondent since 2006, becomes National Correspondent based in New York. CBS News will name a new Capitol Hill correspondent in a separate announcement.

"Prior to joining CBS News, Reid covered the Senate and the House of Representatives for NBC News since fall 2004, and reported for all major NBC News broadcasts, as well as MSNBC, where he also anchored political coverage."
