Is This The End Of Playboy?

(image via kromerica)

Pity Hugh Hefner. Now is not his finest moment. If anyone is deserving of schadenfreude, it is probably the guy who made a fortune on boorishness. The aging frat boy has seen his "concubines," one by one, are leaving him for greener pastures. Can you blame them?

The annual Halloween party has tickets selling for the recession price of $10,000 (in the past $20,000 was not unheard of). And the recession is taking a bite out of his flagship magazine. From Gawker:

"Playboy is cutting 80 jobs , including 55 layoffs, in an effort to save $12 million. The company is also exiting the DVD business completely, moving far-flung employees into the LA office, using cheaper paper, and cutting entertainment expenses (noooo!)."

Oh how we will miss the old once-a-year African-American playmate, or, better, how about that .75 times a year Asian-American centerfold? Cry me a river, Hugh. More here.
