Howard Dean: The Road To The White House Goes Through The West

 (Destination360/ Mountains in Wyoming)
Much ado has been made of the Rocky Mountain West strategy. Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Montana are the standard. DNC Chair Howard Dean, the man who, arguably, anticipated and laid the ground game for a 50-state Democrat strategy , was on the Ed Schultz show this afternoon talking about the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

"One of the fundamental mistakes the Republicans have made is to turn their backs on anyone who disagrees with them," said Dean, referring to the Rove strategy in 2004. "We're not going to ignore any state ... there is no state that we should be afraid to go into ... this is America."

Dean criticized the previous Democratic strategy -- which he called "50-plus one" -- of the party in 2004. "I think the road to the White House is through the West."
