The Recession Hits The Sarah Silverman Show

Please bring back The Sarah Silverman Program, Viacom. And don't cheap out on the budget (Viacom's profound cheapness with regard to "talent" is legendary). From Popsugar:

"With the recession and all of the stress surrounding it, laughter truly is the best medicine. Sadly, Comedy Central is giving Sarah Silverman less resources to produce said laughter.

"Comedy Central has told Silverman and the show's executive producers that they are slashing the budget of 'The Sarah Silverman Program' by 20 percent. In return, Silverman, Dan Sterling and Rob Schrab have all threatened to quit.
'Sarah' recently ended its second season, and hasn't been picked up for a third just yet due to budget concerns. With cuts across many channels of MTV Networks, which owns Comedy Central, the budget for 'Silverman' would be cut from $1.1 million per episode to $850,000. For context, the average single-camera comedy show generally costs between $1.5 million and $2 million, with costs jumping each season."

Remember: in this new digital age, Sarah Silverman is magnificent at the buzzy viral clip, whether regarding the merits of fucking Matt Damon or encouraging Jewish-American voters to make the Great Schlep for Obama (the President won 77% of the Jewish vote. Coincidence?). The full story here.
