Kissinger: India Most Important US Ally From Singapore To Cairo

Fareed Zakaria's GPS is becoming a sort of Page Six of international relations (P6, we cannot fail to note, did a fine job "fleshing" out the location of former SecState Schultz's Princeton tattoo) This week Shashi Tharoor, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information and has led the Department of Public Information (who came within a whisper of being UN Secretary General), relayed a conversation he had with Kissinger: "There is no more important ally for America between Singapore and Cairo than India."

Granted, this is Henry Kissinger, a world class seducer of diplomats. But it sounds like he was actually being sincere to an ambassador. And considering the rising stock of the East (and the falling stocks market in the West), it is an interesting observation by an unfortunately important man.
