Hilfiger, Marky Ramone Paper Magazine Party

Last night The Corsair went to the Tommy Hilfiger, Paper magazine, Marky Ramone party to launch Marky Ramone's ROCK SCENE COLLECTION at 500 Broadway. The scene, as with all Paper parties, was eclectic; whore d'oeuvres did brisk business. Attending were Andy Hilfiger, Russell Simmons, Tommy Hilfiger and Dee Ocleppo.

"We've had 800 RSVP's on a space that holds 200," said a harried clipboarder at the door. "You guys are okay, but the people who come at 9 are fucked." As the event was short -- two hours: 8-10 -- they probably were.

Caught up with our old friend Caroline Torem Craig, the photographer, at the door and then proceeded to get tight a la Svedka Vodka avec Stella Artois. Marky Ramone's band Blitzkrieg played Ramone's classics, including Labotomy, Rock and Roll High School, and a punk rock cover of Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World. They were amazing, moving many in the too-cool-for-school downtown Paper crowd to bob their heads to the beat. Ally Hilfiger was rocking out to the music, standing on a banquette behind the watchful eye of a burly bodyguard.

The coat check afterwards though was a truly punk rock experience, but all in all a good night.
