Is This The End of Cafe Society?

Could this be the last hurrah for Cafe Society as we know it? Town and Country, arguably, jumped the shark, or, rather, jumped the well tended Newport, Rhode Island rose garden, when they decided to put John Travolta on their cover a while back, instead of, say, oh -- Hubert de Givenchy, or Philippe de Montebello (Averted Gaze).

Has celebrity finally trumped discretion and the well-written holiday note? Class will tell ... (Averted Gaze)

Now, The Page Sixers report, the fat lady has sung, or, at least, Bobby Short's doing Gershwin at Cafe Carlisle, as alpha-debutante Cornelia Guest is pitches forth towards Tinseltown, forgoing the obligatory mansion on Long Island out of site from the main road:

"CORNELIA Guest has packed up and moved back to Los Angeles. The daughter of The Post's late gardening columnist C.Z. Guest, Cornelia, who was once named 'Debutante of the Decade,' has decided to try her elegantly manicured hand at acting. So far Guest, who does not have an agent, is doing very well all on her own. The blue-blooded blonde has scored a small part in an NBC pilot, 'Revelations,' done three independent films and is in discussions to have a one-off role on the FX hit, 'Nip/Tuck.'"

Ah, the pendulum swings, and, with the passing of CZ Guest, the debutantes fade. Charmed, I'm sure (Averted gaze).
