Tom Cruise: Crazy Like a Fuck?
(image via jpnn)
In this week's Entertainment Weekly we are indeed entertained as The Cruiser attempts to get all "up in our bitch" and debunk modern psychoanalytical theory singlehanded. Maverick fails mightily, going out in a flame of glory, but not without breaking us off some unintended hilarity in the process, to wit:
"EW: Are you aware that your views about psychiatry come across as pretty radical to a lot of people?
"The Cruiser: In the 1980s you were supposed to say no to drugs. But when I say no to drugs, I'm a radical? 'He's against drugs, he's a radical! He's against electroshock treatments -- he's a radical' (Laughing) It's absurd.
"EW: Yeah, but Scientology textbooks sometimes refer to psychology as a 'Nazi science' ...
"The Cruiser: Well, look at the history. Jung was an editor for the Nazi papers during World War II (According to Aryeh Mandelbaum, the director of the New York Center for Jungian Studies, this is not true). Look at the experimentation the Nazi's did with electric shock and drugging. Look at the drug Methodone. That was originally called Adolphine. It was named after Adolph Hitler. (According to the Dictionary of Drugs and Medications, among other sources, this is an urban legend)."
WTF?!!

time to unload his sis as publicist.
agreed. Scientology has this interesting precept that you always keep your primary social group close, which is admirable in Hollywood, where dropping the old and embracing the hott is very in, but DeVette is really fudging it up.
