Media-Whore D'Oeuvres (Courtney Love Is Dating Mickey Rourke?)

"When Hollywood star Mickey Rourke started openly flirting with us we didn’t expect it would end in a tug of Love… Although we did wonder why, when randy Rourke was chatting us up, we could feel Courtney Love’s eyes burning holes in the back of our heads. And now we know – the pair have been secretly dating for the past three weeks. Not that being spoken for seemed to deter Mickey, who scooped Best Actor at the Elle Style awards to add to his Best Actor Bafta. The Wrestler star spent most of Monday evening at the do at Big Sky Studios in North London trying to grapple with us, while 44-year-old Hole singer Courtney looked like she’d like to get us in a half nelson! Apologising for working during the next day– so he couldn’t take us out for lunch – Mickey suggested we slip him our phone numbers .. Aware that Elle Woman of the Year Courtney was texting him from across the table, we told Mickey, 56, we didn’t want to be in a Love triangle. He just smiled and said: “Well, what can I say, girls? 'The ladies love me and I love the ladies! Courtney’s great… but so are you two!' Then, with a wink, he was off." (3AMGirls)

"There were three destinations on the list for me last night. The first was the Fifth Avenue apartment of Mitzi Perdue who was holding a reception for her former Radcliffe classmate, Leslie Crocker Snyder, who is seeking election for New York County District Attorney .. Second stop was twenty blocks down the avenue to West 44th and the New York Yacht Club where there was a party for Erica Jong and the publication of her new book of poetry 'Love Comes First' .. From the Yacht Club it was uptown to Elaine’s where Interview was celebrating Patrick McMullan’s 20th anniversary with the magazine. From 8 to 10. That’s a not common time slot. Usually 8 is the end of the party." (NYSocialDiary)

"Last night J.C. Penney threw a cocktail-party-cum-runway-show 'Style Your Spring,' held at Espace. J.C. Penney took a giant step in the cool department by adding Charlotte Ronson, Allen B, Bisou Bisou, Nicole Miller and Fabulousity to their designer roster. A highlight for us was catching Fabulousity designer Kimora Lee Kimmons arriving with her baby-to-be's daddy, actor Djimon Hounsou, clad in mink-trimmed sandals!" (Papermag)

"My reaction is that the people in the government are totally out of control. A poker player would say the government is 'on tilt,' placing wild, desperate bets in the hope of getting rescued by good luck. The things they’re doing are not only unproductive, they’re the exact opposite of what should be done. The country got into this mess by living beyond its means for more than a generation. That’s the message from the debt that’s burdening so many individuals; debt is proof that you’re living above your means. The solution is for people to significantly reduce their standard of living for a while and start building capital. That’s what saving is about, producing more than you consume. The government creating funny money – money out of nothing – doesn’t fix anything. All it does is prolong the problem and make it worse by destroying the currency." (Doug Casey/Goldseek)
