PETA Protests Anna Wintour

Last night PETA went through with their threat to protest Anna Wintour as she spoke at Pratt Institute. "We scoured photo agencies for the shot that most accurately reflects Wintour's selfish, cruel nature, and although there were many candidates, this one summed it up best," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a press release. "Wintour is the perfect poster girl for one of the most hideous industries on the planet."

PETA, with all due respect, sometimes seems more interested in the PR than the principle. What else are we to make of an organization that once tried to publicize "CloFu: The George Clooney-Sweat Infused Tofu" as an alternative to meat eating? (Averted Gaze)

As TheCutblog noted in their Tweets last night, "Just arrived to Anna Wintour's talk at Pratt. PETA is here, too, protesting with their signature fake carcasses." And: "We're safely inside! PETA protesters are contained outside behind gates. Have they infiltrated the auditorium too? Guess we'll find out." Further: "And Anna's off! Discussing Irving Penn." Finally: "Lecture is ending and Bob Marley's 'One Love' came on. Okay then."

Really? Bob Marley? It is good to have a healthy sense of irony about these things ..
