Did The Saudi Royals Summon Dick Cheney?

(image via schema-root)

There seems to be some dispute as to whether or not Vice President Cheney's sojourn to Riyadh was at The Summoning of the Saudi Royals, or if he went on his own steam. The obnoxiously centrist Time columnist Joe Klein on The Chris Matthews Show (hosted by Andrea Mitchell, NBC's Washington Correspondent with the bad skin) says he was summoned, while Saudi mouthpiece and Ambassador Al Faisal poo-pooed the idea and said, diplomatically, that Cheney was "invited."

Invited, summoned -- you say tomato ...

We figured, to be sure, that the Saudi Royals would be too busy with their Russian hookers to be concerned with such nuances of shuttle diplomacy.

Still, what is entailed in a "Summoning" of Cheney? Flaming Pentagrams? The Goat of Mendes? Virginal Senate Paiges? Blowcaine? Cardamum? Eye of Newt (Gingrich)?
