It's all about celebrity content. BET Networks is airing the irreverent, gossip-driven Wendy Williams show, which has been renewed on stations covering more than 80% of the U.S., internationally in a few months. From the press release:

BET Networks has acquired Debmar-Mercury's THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW for a second season in the U.S. this fall and has agreed to air the popular talk show on its international networks in the United Kingdom, Africa and the Middle East in 54 countries starting in July 2010.

Taped live in Midtown New York, the Wendy Williams Show will air on BET's international weekday lineup later this summer. "We ... believe Wendy's universal appeal will translate to all corners of the world, making her a key player for BET's international networks as well," said Barbara Zaneri, BET Networks' Executive Vice President of Program Strategy. BET International channels are a mix of content from the main BET channel as well as local programming and blocks of music videos.
