After Apertures's celebration of Robert Delpire (attended by Sarah Moon and the always wonderful Dominique Paul), I headed uptown to the inaugural exhibition of Venus Over Manhattan on the Upper East Side, at 980 Madison, to be among the Picassos and Koonses and the Jivaro Shrunken Heads (see below).
They were serving champagne and absinthe, suitably decadent for an evening commenorating Huysmans. I finally met the awesometastic David Kaplan and Cat Weaver, fellow Game of Thrones and Mad Men fans, which is sort of a personal victory in that I have been trying, in vain, to meet them for quite some time now. Also among the luminaries: Anthony Haden-Guest, Tara Subkoff, Erin Featherston, Charlotte Lindemann, Frances Lindemann, Stacy Engman, Bob Shaye, Peggy Siegal, Amalia Dayan, Charlotte Kidd, Emily Jerome, Hope Atherton and, of course, Tony Shafrazi.
