Last night at Copacabana, Michael Musto's book party for "Fork on the Left, knife in the Back" ran like a well-oiled machine. I've noticed that when the nightlife "pro's" -- think Paper magazine -- do parties, everything runs smoothly. The rum drinks were flowing for the entire three hours; the waitstaff was brilliant at keeping the large crowd properly tight; the food arrived at just the perfect time; the performance began just as everyone was done with their meal; and after it was all done there was another half hour of boozing and dancing by a quite competent DJ. Michael is a pro and showed us how proper nightlife is done.
And the crowd was downtown and freaky. Dirty Matini-did-a-burlesque-striptease freaky. Then again, it isn't a Musto party without a burlesque striptease, copious booze -- though Michael is a Diet Coke guy -- celebrities and glorious downtown freaks. You know it is a freaky party when Jerry Springer attends. And Lisa Lampanelli did an incredibly filthy set. It was a wonderful evening.

Also spotted in the crowd: Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Sharon Bush, Anna Rothschild, Paula Froelich, Caroline Waxler, Fenton Bailey, Andrew Andrew, Danger Cat, Susan Anton, Tony Adams, Anita Sarko, Dandy Wellington, Robin Byrd, Randy Barbato, Malik So Chic, Mickey Boardman and the adorable Anna Musto.
In other words, it was the Kate and William wedding for nightlifers. The yearly (or so) Musto book party.
