Avenue Antiques, Art & Design Show
Manhattan media, which is presently shopping its publications, throws one hell of a party. This may be a plus for potential buyers. Yesterday I attended opening night for the annual Avenue Antiques, Art & Design Show at the Park Avenue Armory. More than 60 dealers set up shop, showing art, antiques, furniture and jewelry from the antiquity to a very successful looking crowd. Champers, an open bar, a buffet and some of the most interesting pieces -- Picasso's, John Singer Sargents -- you'll ever get to see up close. Among the hoi polloi: Author Michael Gross, Joe Bendik, Jen Strong, Christina Juares, Talis Lin and Yerelyn Cortez Hidalgo among others.
I chatted with Jonathan Tun from the Lotus Gallery, which contains art from China, Tibet, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia,
India, Thailand, and Burma, and dates from 206 BC to the present -- displayed some amazing excavated pieces of ancient art from the east at under $10,000.
There will be shows all weekend. Admission $20. Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Ave, NYC.
